We are dedicated to delivering the highest standard of care, grounded in over 20 years of clinical experience and the latest evidence-based practices. Our commitment is to go above and beyond to enhance the quality of life for our clients.
Research supports that a multi-disciplinary approach leads to better client outcomes compared to professionals working in isolation. Many people have complex needs and receive care from multiple providers. We view ourselves as integral members of the care team and prioritise clear, effective communication to achieve the best possible outcomes for our clients.
Respect underpins everything we do. We honour each client’s individuality, preferences, and rights, ensuring their goals are central to every decision. We are committed to fostering an inclusive and empowering environment where clients feel valued and supported.

The terms Speech Pathologist (SP), Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) and Speech Therapist are often used interchangeably, but they refer to the same professional role.
At My Speech Therapist, a swallowing assessment begins with gathering a detailed medical history and discussing any concerns or symptoms related to swallowing difficulties, including food and fluid preferences. The evaluation then focuses on the strength, coordination, and sensory function of the muscles involved in swallowing. Swallowing trials with various food textures and liquids are conducted, along with strategies to improve mealtime safety. In some cases, further diagnostic tests, such as a Videofluoroscopic Swallowing Study (VFSS) or Fibreoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES), may be recommended. Based on the results, a personalised treatment plan is created, which may include exercises, diet modifications, and compensatory strategies. Education for clients and caregivers is an essential component of safe swallowing practices and should be included for all clients with a swallowing disorder.
Typically, it may take up to two weeks from your enquiry to your first appointment with a clinician, depending on factors like the type of therapy you require and location. However, with our telehealth services, in-clinic appointments and in-home services, we offer several options to help start your journey sooner.
